Once an Envoy of Gaia reaches level sixty, a new option will open up within the Eidolon Menu—Gaia Chronicle. Here, you'll be able to read stories about the Eidolons' pasts and participate in the adventures as though you were actually there. Exciting, isn't it?
Gaia Chronicle is an Eidolon-related mini-game accessible from the Eidolon Area (N). The player can create parties of their possessed Eidolons and venture through various checkpoints, and read about the history of the Eidolons.
Gaia Chronicle is unlocked when the player reaches level sixty. The premise is to clear various areas of the Chronicle Map with a party of owned Eidolons, which they can assign to their party formation. The Eidolons' level, stats and equipment influences their strength and ability in the battles. The first added Eidolon—with golden border—is considered the leader of the party, which activates their party skill. Also, the higher profession level, the more parties can be created and used.
The gameplay itself revolves around moving forward and choosing which direction to go: right, left or forward. Depending on which way to go, the player may encounter different scenarios, such as:
Enemy encounter (battle against common or uncommon enemies)
Undergo treatment (heal the HP bar)
Receive blessing from the Cube of Gaia (earn profession XP)
Find lucky packs (Merit Tokens)
During battle, the player can view the combat log. Like in normal combat, the monsters in chronicle battles can also possess attributes. The total HP amount is accumulated and shared between all Eidolons in the parties. Also, when the progress rate reaches 100%, the player will face the boss. Defeating the boss will result in victory, clear the area, and receive rewards.
Gaia Chronicle can be run at auto and closed down. When doing so, an indicator will appear on the Eidolon Area icon and change once finished. When changing maps or channel, or entering Navea or the Guild Hall, or disconnected from the server, the run will be canceled.
There is, however, a restriction. The player has a limited amount of Durability Points (the consumed amount referred as Toughness), which will be consumed when running a Checkpoint. Durability recharges one point every ten minutes. The higher the profession rank, the higher maximum durability cap.
