Accepting the QuestEdit

Alain

"Well, you've done a stellar job, so now it's time to fulfill my end of the agreement. Let me see who could be available to help you." Alain fishes a list out of his pocket, unfolding it. He carefully scrutinizes the list.
"Ok, I think I know who can help you. Take your contraption to the village and have Renault, Saffron and Old Tom have a look. They are leaders in their specialized fields with several years of experience. If they can't help you, I don't know who can."

Envoy

Excited, you repeat the names in your head, committing them to memory.

Alain

"No one understands mechanics better than Dwarves; that's a fact! The people I'm introducing you to are the best of the best tinkerers." Alain pulls back his shoulders with pride.
"As for my opinion, I've never seen such a machine before, but the model seems familiar. Hrmm, where have I seen something like this before...?"

In ProgressEdit

Alain

"I'd suggest finding them before the finals begin. Once it starts, this place will be like a ghost town; everyone will be out watching the competition."

Talking to RenaultEdit

Renault

"'Sup, human?"

Envoy

You approach Renault with what Alain had said, showing him the Broken Ancient Machinery from the Starlight Treasure Chest.

Renault

"The Village Chief himself sent you to me? Pretty gnarly." Renault smiles.
"Well, lets crack this mystery! I gotta see what's so old and strange that old Alain can't identify."

Envoy

After passing the Broken Ancient Machinery to Renault, he begins to examine it.

Renault

"Far out... I don't know what this thing is, either! I do remember someone asking me about it before, though. I was busy then, so I don't even remember who it was."

Talking to SaffronEdit

Saffron

"I am tremendously busy, what with the competition and all, but I suppose I can spare a few moments for...community service. What is your inquiry?"

Envoy

You show Saffron the Broken Ancient Machinery, hoping that seeing it would spark in her ideas on how to fix it.

Saffron

"Ah, simple. This machine is... No, wait, I retract that statement. In actuality, it's a... wait, that is also an incorrect assumption."
"I must be truthful with you. I have no logical idea as to the identity of that machine. I am, however, confident enough to inform you that it will never work without a proper structure to hold energy."

Envoy

At least Saffron was able to say a little bit, but you don't know how accurate her statement is knowing she's never seen a machine like yours before. You can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

Saffron

"I wish to submit an inquiry to you. Do you know Augustus, that pompous brute? I simply cannot believe someone as disorganized and dysfunctional as he is managed to get into the competition! I am still devising a solution as to how he managed this."

Envoy

You shake your head; you have no idea who Augustus is.

Saffron

"What? How could you not know him? Hmm, then do you know Montero? He calls himself "White Knuckle Montero." He is this year's defending champion. I am 99.856% certain he will win again this year."

Talking to Old TomEdit

Old Tom

"Yeah, what do ya want? I'm busy here."

Envoy

You show Old Tom the Broken Ancient Machinery, quickly telling him about your conversation with Alain.

Old Tom

"Hmm... I've never seen anything like this before. Quite a hunk of junk you've got there. Perhaps it was part of a larger robot. I'd use it for spare parts."

Envoy

Part of a larger machine? Interesting! Eagerly, you ask if he may know anything else about it.

Old Tom

"... What, you thought I was actually serious! I was just spoutin' nonsense. I have no idea what that thing is, but I'd use it for spare parts. Even if I knew exactly what it was, you'd never have it fixed in time for this year's competition, or next year's. Let's talk about something more interesting! Do you know about last year's champion, Montero?"
"Montero seems decent. He's got a good head on his shoulders and is highly skilled. He's not an arrogant fool like Augustus. I hope people come to their senses and boot Augustus from the competition."

Envoy

Shouldering your disappointment, you realize that talking with Old Tom is getting you nowhere. You politely listen for a few more minutes, then blurt out an excuse to leave.

Completing the QuestEdit

Alain

"That didn't take long! I'm sure you have plenty of answers now, after talking to our best! I'm curious, fill me in." Alain grins, an eager glint in his eyes.

Envoy

Hesitantly, you tell Alain about what happened after you talked to the craftsmen.

Alain

"W-what? How is that possible? None of them know what this thing is? I don't know anyone that knows more about machines than they do. So, how...?"
"Oh, wait... Something just came to mind! I remember a young human girl, a few years back, asking me about a similar machine... How could that have slipped my mind? She didn't have it like you do, but she drew a picture of it. It looked so much like your machine; that's why it's so familiar to me."

Envoy

There is hope yet! Someone else knows about the machine. You press Alain for more details.

Alain

"...Gosh, I was so busy then, it was all a jumble. There were so many spectators that visited the village that year; the competition then was electrifying! I didn't think that human girl a craftsman at all, just another spectator..."
