Lv55. Shattering Illusions

Omar discussed the cause of the illusions within the ruins, and agreed that they were being projected by the crystals the team had seen. You were not affected by the illusions, so the task of destroying the crystals to make the ruins safe fell to you.

Omar

"Just in time, <Envoy>. Our Expedition Team thinks they've found the source of the trances. Tell %n% what you've learned." Omar beckons one of his team members over.

Expedition Team Member

"Right. Well, first we tried wearing instruments that would cause interference to normal means of transfixion, but those were useless. The moment we stepped into the ruins, several of our team completely lost themselves to the trance. They looked like they had seen some horrible illusion."
"Suddenly, everyone lost the ability to distinguish between reality and illusion. We had no way of telling friend from foe... So we had to get out of there as soon as possible."

Omar

"Get to the point! <Envoy> needs to know about the source that you found."

Expedition Team Member

"Er, right, sorry sir. There were some strange crystals floating within the Ruins. The people who managed to regain their senses all said they saw them before they started to hallucinate..."

Omar

"There you have it. It's those crystals, <Envoy>. Yet, somehow, when you went to deal with those strange creatures you were not effected. Did you not see the floating blue crystals?"

Envoy

You don't recall feeling any particular discomfort or seeing anything strange. Since the interference instruments had no effect, you tell Omar that you suspect the trances are caused by an ancient and unusual magic.

Eidolon

"I agree! It must be something magical. These kinds of things easily overpower a normal person who may have trouble maintaining their focus. An Envoy of Gaia, like <Envoy>, is a completely different matter!" <Eidolon> nods.

Omar

"Since you're immune, I'd like you to delve into the ruins and destroy those crystals so the rest of the expedition can move in."

In Progress[]

Omar

"I'm sorry, <Envoy> - as long as those crystals are in the ruins, we can't go in and help you. Worse still, we could unintentionally put you at greater risk."

Envoy

Having destroyed all the crystals within the ruins, you return to see Omar and Sherman having a loud discussion. It would seem they've discovered something rather disturbing.

Omar

"How is that even possible? Are you messing with me?" Omar shouts.

Sherman

"Look, I can understand your dismay, but I've checked my results five times, and I've gotten the same result each time." Sherman shrugs helplessly.

Envoy

You report the situation and ask them what's going on. They both look to one another and Sherman lets out a long sigh.

Sherman

"Well, despite the external differences... these monsters are uncannily similar to humans structurally."
"I think... these creatures actually used to BE human. The residents of the temple, I'd guess."

Omar

"Ozymand Temple... if this is what comes out of it, what kind of secrets does conceal? What could have happened in there?"
