The situation at Nudak Fortress[]
Arriving at Nudak Fortress Envoy report themself to the Fortress Commander, Carrick and briefed about the recent situation. Understanding the situation, Envoy can notice his impatient despite his strong words. He rants about how the Church send the reinforcements which are only Envoy, Analisa, Jill, and a company of cannons. Before Envoy can reply, he silences them and told Envoy to report to Lawrence for a mission assignment. Envoy report to Lawrence, the Quartermaster of the Fortress and he recommend Envoy to start organizing supplies if Envoy wants to help. He's worried about Krok Villagers that may suffer cold when night comes. Rather than waiting for supplies, he wants Envoy to do it by themself much to Envoy's approval. He wants Envoy to takedown the Sasquacks and taking its furs while not forgetting to remove its horns.
Envoy sets out to defeat Sasquacks and taking their horns before getting its fur and cleans it up. Once the necessary amount is gathered, Envoy returns to Lawrence and he was impressed to see how Envoy do the work quickly while the shame that he doesn't have people like Envoy around. He hopes that this will sustain the conditions until supplies arrived. Envoy then asks about the situation and he told that Krok Village was under attack by Varans from Silverflash Tribe without warning. The garrison plans for counter-attack but they cannot do it until the refugees are being taken care of.
Envoy then gives blankets to refugees while also seeking information out from them. The villagers don't know why Varan attacked the village despite it doesn't have valuable values. He worried about those who didn't make it out in time. Another villager told about the environment of the forest that starts to changed and to make more worse, it comes to recent attacks. Envoy asks for more details and the villagers may suspect dwarves are responsible for it. She recommends Envoy to investigate Barren Well when they got a chance. When the last blanket was passed, some soldiers start to shout panicky and a Church Guard looks upset at the Envoy. Envoy introduces themself and told the reason why Envoy is here much to the guard surprise but Envoy felt confused how to respond. Leonard told himself that he was dispatched from Navea with Zachary to escort a VIP and unfortunately the VIP ran off. Usually, it won't be a problem but seeing this situation, the problem gets serious. Envoy ask who is the VIP and turns out it was Analisa, the Templar Blacksmith. Envoy recall the saddle on Beebis is made by her.
Asking for more details, Leonard told that Analisa came to deliver Electromagnetic Turrets and doing odd jobs around the fort. He suspects that she may want to investigate it herself due to changes at Oblitus Wood. Envoy then informs him that the Church plans to assault the village to rescue possible survivors. He knows about it and the church is not ready for it. He worried that Analisa may be Killed in Action by the time the church is ready. Envoy then offers themself to help and Zachary already went to investigate the village while it's dangerous to go alone and could be ambushed when he rescues Analisa and withdrawing. He then wants Envoy to eliminate Sasquacks to secure the escape route back to fortress.
Before leaving, Envoy went to Lawrence for more jobs. He knows that he doesn't have enough manpower and he expect heavy casualties. Furthermore, the medical supplies have been reduced a lot and he wants a slime from Deadwood Snails due to high qualities medicine. Envoy sets out to defeat Dark Sasquatch to secure escape route and Deadwood Snails to extract slimes. Envoy first delivers it to Lawrence and he gives information to Envoy that most refugees were not injured for some reason even the village was taken quickly. The wounds look like was inflicted during the escape and he really didn't know what the Silverflash Tribe is up to. Envoy then reports to Leonard that the job is done.
He, however, have another problem. He wonders if Zachary is all right but he needs to stay behind to oversee the situation. Envoy offers themself to go on a check if Zachary was alright. Leonard hesitant since he was his partner but the Eidolon assures him that he got a job while Envoy will do a job for him. Envoy then will set out to Fultech forest, northwest of Nudak Fortress. Envoy then told their plan to Eidolon much to their grins, knowing what Envoy is up to. Tracking them down, Envoy heads to Fultech forest and found some footprints of adult a kid-sized. North from there, Envoy can hear kids chattering so Envoy comes to investigate.
Trapped Children[]
Envoy found Zachary with the kids, one of it is Jill. Envoy reports themself to Zachary and he was relieved that Leonard dispatch Envoy as he got his hands full to take care of children. Asking for the current situation and Analisa's whereabouts, he told that Analisa's group are hiding near the village with a Makar Warrior guarding them while he can't advance due to the kids. Envoy wonders why he can't leave together during that time, Analisa told that the investigation is progressing as Varan aren't being too thorough and violent for this occupation.
He has a tough time handling children and he can't disobey Analisa's order but he himself has little experience in handling kids. Jill told Cicolli not to make any sound when the enemy is coming. He was worried about what happened if the lizard starts to stir around and ask Envoy to drive away the Lizards. He, however, has a problem for himself as he lost his backpack to the lizards on the way here. The bag itself contains a valuable intelligence from Varan and finding it could be led to life and death situation. Envoy sets out to defeat Deadwood and Spiney Chameleon while also searching for his bag. Once driving them away and securing his bag, Envoy returns to him. He actually can take care of himself but given the situation he has to handle kids, he wasn't sure if he can handle it. He was relieved when a map was still inside the bag and Envoy wonder if the map can be used to recapture the village. the map itself gives details about deployments, packages, and such. Envoy surprised while also wonder what makes Silverflash Tribe plans all of it for this?
He wonders what the Varans is up to especially at the north, bringing carriages through there. He wants to see what they are transporting but the kids stop him when he wants to go by himself. He then wants Envoy to interrogate some Silverflash Porters, see if they can explain what they are carrying while he wants Envoy to conduct a heist on whatever the tribe may transporting it. The Envoy sets out to defeat some porters and steal some Ordinary Stones. Once the Varans are running in panic and the heist was done, Envoy returns to him. While the Porters didn't spill information, busting their supply lines is good enough and Envoy shows him stones from the cart that Envoy took earlier. when the discussion goes on further they heard a roar and the children were terrified. The kids say that the Fury Mountain Wolf may go down and eat them. Zachary assures them that he will protect the kids.
Envoy ask about this wolf and he explains more details about them, relying on livestock for meals but recently people have disappeared as well. He can bring them back to the fort but he concerns if the wolf may feast on helpless villagers later if they tailed him and the kids. The Envoy heard the wolf howled at west so Envoy sets out to defeat Fury and Forest Mountain Wolf to make sure they won't mess anymore. Driving away from the wolves, Envoy quickly returns to check on Zachary. He was checking on the bottle that kids carrying but the smells are really bad. He suggests the kids smear it upon themself much to the disgust of the kids. He told them that if they didn't do so, the wolves may get their family as well. The kids finally smear the ointment even they still felt disgusted. He looks worried that Envoy will proceed alone while he escorts the kids back to the fortress. Envoy assures him that they will be fine since Envoy is not alone.
Before retreating, Jill stops him and she gave a stone to Envoy, telling that Analisa may know what the stones are used for. Envoy then sets out to the Krok Village to deliver the packages to Analisa.
Reunion and Krok Village Investigation[]
Arriving at Krok Village, Envoy surprised to see Odum Ryan again which Envoy encountered at Alabastren Temple before. He bows to Envoy and inquires him to stop calling Envoy a Master while want to know how he ended up here. After he was defeated, he disbanded his unit and start traveling around to hone his skills. When he plans to settle at Krok Village, the Varans are already there so he went to investigate while Analisa stares at them, wondering if they knew each other. He told her that Envoy was sort of his mentor after they defeat him at the temple. Envoy then gives what they bring to Analisa to analyze it.
She then asks about her daughter and the rest of the children and Envoy told that Zachary already escorting them to the fortress and Envoy will take the investigation from here. She expects this good news but the bad news is her work is not as fast as she thought since she didn't anticipate the Silverflash Tribe. When she was about to escort the villagers out, a Varan spots her but Odum fought them off while she asks about what Envoy can find from the map that she found. Envoy then gives the stone to her, thinking what they are up to.
While her original objective is to deploy the Electromagnetic Turret to strengthen the fort defenses, she also investigates the forest natural energy is decreased lately. Envoy also notices it but doesn't know what causes it. The stones may emit something by a spell and she remembers about this before. She then wants Envoy to defeat some Earth Guards near the entrance as she got an idea. Envoy sets out to collect the fragments and once got enough amount, Envoy reports back to her. She then suspects that the stones and the fragments are similar. Odum suspects that the stone around forest may be used to summon Earth Guards.
Analisa then has another problem. Her tools were left at the village and she just remembered it due to her focusing on handling villagers and the kids. Envoy got an idea as well, seeing this as an opportunity to scout the village for what the Varans is up to. Scouting the pool, Envoy found more guards than at the entrance. Advancing ahead, more guards can be spotted as they are protecting someone important. Envoy quickly searches for her toolkit while sneaking around until Envoy found it. Once found, Envoy quickly sneaks out and hand it over to her. Envoy then reports about the Varans while she works on the stones and fragments, her attention then sets on the pool itself.
Analisa then requests Envoy to take something from her. If her hunch was correct, some of Varans could have totems on them and she wants to examine it. Odum notices that Earth Golen start to decrease and Varan already notices it by sending more patrols. He didn't want to risk Analisa's work interrupted so he wants Envoy to bring the fight away from their current area, or, at least only aims to the Envoy. Accepting this quest, Envoy sets out to fight Varan Patrolman, drawing their attention to Envoy while also stealing the totem. Once the patrolman are routed and Envoy seizes some totems, Envoy withdraws back to the camp. Odum was happy but Envoy didn't like how he kept bragging about their effort, wishing to see how much mess that Envoy made. Examining the totems, Analisa concludes that the totems are made to create Earth Guards. She expects that the Varan made the totems from north of Fultech forest, where there is some energy left there. While feeling doubtful to use magic to summon elementals much to Odum's curiosity. She expects that it will take a lot of effort to protect the village, much to both Envoy and Odum's curiosity. The invasion is clearly well-planned as the Varan invest a lot to it.
Analisa feels confused, still looking on how worth Krok Village is despite it was just an ordinary hunting village. Envoy remembers that Varan deploys heavier defenses are deployed around cottages and pool, as the Eidolon spots on what Envoy is thinking. Analisa knows that Varan is not stupid enough to leave the unimportant places unguarded. She then gives Envoy a bottle to fill it with pool water so she can analyze it when Envoy returns. Odum seems concerned about this, but Envoy assures him that they will be fine. Reaching the pool is not easy since Silverflash Watchman are guarding it. Fighting them, Envoy clear the area and extracting some water before returning to Analisa. She looks shocked when she analyze it as the pool only contains normal water. Curious, she explains that the energy in the water on the village was pure, as it was unaffected by the current change of energy at Oblitus Wood. She realizes that the Varans true intentions are to protect the pool while uninterested in attacking the village.
Analisa then thinks of diplomatic ways to end this quarrel and Envoy told her that the villagers that are evacuated to Nudak Fortress are not being pursued by Silverflash Tribe. Odum already tried it once, but he ended up getting attacked. The only solution is Makar way, strength above all so they can open themselves to them. Analisa then wants Envoy to create chaos by defeating Silverflash Warrior and Fighters, then she and Odum will come to negotiate with their leader. Accepting this task, Envoy assaults the camp, defeating necessary numbers of Warriors and Fighters then withdraws. Once retreated, Analisa thinks that they earn Varan's respect. While the tribe starts to retreat, Analisa wants Envoy to mount the assault once again to start the negotiation.
She asks Odum to negotiate since he knows about it. Envoy warns Odum that Shay, Silverflash Tribe Priest is guarded by many Silverflash Guards. While assuring Envoy that he will be fine, he asks her if the treaty was prepared. Nodding, she hands the letter to Odum for negotiation. Envoy then will stay to protect the camp while Odum departs for negotiation.
Negotiation with the church[]
Knowing the Guard won't talk, Odum decides to blast his way in by defeating Silverflash Guard. Defeating them from one checkpoint to another, Odum finally draws Shay out and he orders the guards to stand down. He commends Envoy's strength while also asking what is their true intention. Odum told him that both sides didn't want any unnecessary deaths and he hands over a letter from Analisa, telling that despite their power, they seek peace. Shay rebukes it that they didn't want to injure the villagers, match to the report from Nudak Fortress earlier about villagers able to escape without casualty or deaths. Odum knows that the Varans want the pool, hoping that with this knowledge, they can achieve a peaceful agreement. He concern that his access to the pool will be closed if he hands the village back to the humans after reading Analisa's letter. Odum convinces Shay that all he needs is to ask and the villagers are willing to share water with him, swearing upon the honor of Makar. Expecting to honor the deal, Shay accepts the terms.
Returning to the camp, this time Envoy comes to Shay. As he prepares the ambassador for negotiation at Nudak Fortress, Envoy bows and introduces themself to him briefly despite he grew impatient since Envoy come a bit late. He looks at the Envoy with awe, witnessing how the Envoy defeats his best fighters single-handedly with the aid of Eidolon. He apologizes for the terror he caused as he was desperate to use that water to cure the tribe leader. Envoy then asks Shay what happen to the tribe leader. Shay told Envoy that the latest spell backfired on the tribe leader, suffering critical injury and only pure energy from Krok Village's pool can help his condition. Since Krok Village's water was not affected due to change of the woods that starts from the northeast, it was their last hope to cure the leader. As an agreement, Shay and his men will retreat, but they will station some earth guards and guardsman since they need to keep an eye on their tribe leader at all times when accessing the pool. Once understand the situation, Envoy then ready to escort them to Nudak Fortress to finalize the peace talks. Ready to return, the Ambassador goes with Envoy back to the fortress.
Returning to the fortress, Envoy report to Carrick. He seems frustrated when the reports from the Krok Village suddenly ceased when Envoy enters the village. Envoy then explains the whole situation on the village until reaching the peaceful conclusion. He lost in thoughts and silent when Envoy explains the whole events while looking at Varan's Ambassador. and Envoy back and forth. Understanding the whole situation, he agrees with Analisa's judgment as they don't have time for unneeded conflict. The church will honor the agreement and allow the Silverflash Tribe to use the water. He forgives the Varans and making peace together. The ambassador also apologizes for their rude behavior and will withdraw all the finest warriors along with making an offering of an apology to the people. The tribe got no intention to harm the villagers, yet he admits that their actions were shameful. Until Silverflash tribe leader is recovering from injuries, they will continue to use the water and they will leave Krok Village in peace.
Ending the talks, the Ambassador leaves with the escorts and when tension subsides, Carrick was impressed on how Envoy can achieve this resolution and why the church trust them. Envoy instead give the credits to Analisa and Odum that helps them to achieve this peace. Returning to serious business, he wonders if Envoy can take up another job. Now he wants Envoy to investigate Tafay Village, a village of Dwarves as they could be a prime suspect for this case, considering the source starts from northeast of the woods. He plans to send Envoy to scout, however, there is more priority task to do.
Robots start to go out of control and wreaking havoc at Barren Well. If it continues, it could attack the fortress anytime. He already sends soldiers there, but the soldiers were totally outnumbered. He wants Envoy to clear northeast of the Barren Well entrance and clear out the camp from hostiles. Envoy accepts this task and immediately goes to assist the Templar Knights that are overwhelmed there. Before setting out, Lawrence calls Envoy. Since the metal supplies are running low, he wants Envoy to gather some of the scraps to replenish the metal supplies for forging. He plans to make new arsenals since the war with Shadow Knight can happen sooner than expected. Setting out to Barren Well, Envoy picks up the pace to rescue the trapped soldiers.
Envoy arrived and immediately engage Walkerbot and Cargobot. Once defeating them and collecting the scraps, Envoy returns to the fortress. While Lawrence was impressed over the quality that Envoy gathers, it looks like Carrick is recalling every soldier save for Barren Well. Reporting to Carrick, Envoy report what they find and it surprises him that the numbers alone will make the soldier got a hard time there. He didn't expect that it was worse than he expects while thinking of next order in a sigh.
He knows the robots were made by the Dwarves in the north and he simply blames them from draining Life Energy at Oblitus Wood. When he thought that Navea will send reinforcements, instead only Analisa arrived with her electromagnetic turret that can defeat robot with ease. Then Envoy wants to know if he got any new plans for it. The report indicates that defenses on Barren Well didn't go well, confirming that the soldiers are outnumbered there. He traces back to where he thought Envoy was inexperienced and how they can help the front lines. Now, knowing that Envoy shows their true value, he then asks for their assistance once again.
Envoy convinces him that they will be always at Church's side no matter what. Then, Carrick wants Envoy to grab some supplies and send it to Walker, the Commander in charge of Barren Well. The supplies should boost their morale for a while. Once Envoy got supplies, they set out to Barren Well.
Testing the Electromagnetic Turret[]
Arriving at the camp, Envoy explains their presence in front of Walker while handing supplies to him. While relieved the supplies have arrived, the situation itself isn't going well. Envoy looks at the robot while wondering why Analisa's turret is not operational yet. While he proud about their "trump card", there is some problem. The device keeps recharging and it even though the enemies draw close, the turret is always recharging and not be able to operate it once. Eidolon also agrees that they can't wait until the turret is ready. The morale alone start to dwindle because of the current situation, let alone they may need to face Shadow Knight's army later that can turn into a slaughter.
To make it worse, a large group of enemies already slip past through their defenses already even Envoy defeats them earlier. The soldiers also can't hold out due to lack of manpower to defend the area. The robot itself appears when the energy on the wood starts draining. They may need to abandon the turret even it was still recharging. Envoy then offers themselves to suppress Bouncer robots. He accepts the offer and Envoy set out to suppress them. Once the numbers are suppressed enough, Envoy withdraws and Walker was impressed at how Envoy can pull it off. Before celebrate, however, the Eidolon points to the mound of robots that Envoy has just defeated. The robot starts to rise again despite their armor are on horrible state.
Walker thinks on how to defeat them and one of possibility is to remove the core. Envoy asks from him on how to remove it and he hands Envoy a tool that functions like a door handle. Envoy just needs to destroy the shell and extract the core once it's exposed. While Eidolon provides cover, Envoy swiftly removes the core as many as Envoy can and retreat once again. The job is done and now, they just need to hold out until turret was fully charged. What Envoy look is his stressful face so they ask him what's going on. He was stressed out because his whole squad has yet to report in, knowing that something could suppress his squad.
While the turret's recharging speed increases, Envoy inquire about the situation. The latest report indicates that his assault squad was suppressed by Butterfly Hoplites. The soldiers never expect the aerial attack and it will be an onslaught if they retreat immediately. Eidolon notes that butterfly was fast so Envoy needs to move faster than that. As reinforcements can take some time, Envoy volunteered to go in order to assess the situation and possibly, suppress the number of Butterfly Hoplites. Just as Envoy expected, the knights are pinned down by Hoplites. Defeating them, Envoy rescues them by defeating the butterflies and the knights manage to retreat. Once done, Envoy returns to the camp and sighing when Walker waves excitedly after hearing a report from his subordinates. The turret, however, now is ready to operate and once the technicians confirm that it's ready, they will use it to take down the robots.
The technician confirms that it's ready, however, the last cartridge is still modified for maximum power. To make it worse, the operator suffers a grave injury from robots. The technician can do it, however, the power output won't be able at maximum power and won't be able to knock out a large threat. Eidolon whispers that Envoy can pilot the robot very smoothly back in Cactakara Forest during the contest. Envoy volunteers and they will need to adjust themselves to controls. Accepting the quest, Envoy mans the turret and technician sets it to full power.
The engineer, Stephanie, aids Envoy by giving them instructions. Once set up, the robots start to attack in a large number. Envoy refuses to give up despite being overwhelmed and numbered. Thanks to the assistance of Stephanie to repair the damages, they manage to repel it. However, Destroyer Mk.II arrives to challenge them. Stephanie immediately installs the new parts so the turret can go on full power. Engaging the Destroyer, Envoy quickly dispatches it and once the robot is defeated, it self destruct itself and others followed. Once done, Stephanie and her unit will stay to clean up the mess while Envoy returns to the camp. Walker is in awe on how Envoy pilot the turret and his doubt about turret now is clear.
Now the situation is clear, Walker and his units prepare to withdraw to fight Shadow Knight's army. Before leaving he asks if Envoy can escort them and Envoy inquire about investigating the problem with Dwarves production. He then recommends Envoy to travel to Forest of Thorns north from their position. He already sends Vincent, a scout, so Envoy can get some update from him. While Walker and his unit retreat, Envoy continues to the north.
The Wounded Scout[]
Arriving there, Envoy finds Vincent wounded. Turns out he was poisoned by the thorns and never expect that the effect can be this lethal. He stops Envoy from approaching the thorns as the effect can get itching, aching, then the body goes numb as he experiences it by himself right now. Envoy then inquires what they can do to assist him. First, he needs some Rough Hide Lizard to neutralize the toxin. The second is he wants Envoy to clear lizards around the vicinity to prevent him from getting eaten by lizards. Envoy sets out, clearing the area and gathering some rough hide from the lizard. Once the task is done, Envoy returns and he applies the hide with the assistance of the Envoy. It will take time before he made a full recovery from it while relieved that they may not be coming back any soon now.
He then asks Envoy what happens if Tafay village is responsible for this mess. While Nudak Fortress can start a negotiation, they can assault the village if the situation goes south. Envoy agrees with him, but then again Envoy wants to avoid bloodbath since Nudak Fortress can attack the village if the villages are the ones that responsible for this. Whenever the choice is, it still won't be easy to travel thanks to the poisonous vine as robots and lizard can traverse it unharmed. He then wants Envoy to clear a path from vines so there will be less casualty when the army gets across later. Envoy clear out the vines and by the time the job is done, he can stand and take a few steps.
While Vincent can withdraw to the fort, Envoy inquires of any information they can find now. He heard some bickering at the village but when he wants to get a closer look, the bouncers chase him off and he ended up in his current situation. He recommends Envoy to defeat the Bouncers in order to enter the village. Envoy goes to the village and clears any bouncers that get in the way. Once the path is clear, Envoy pushes to the village to meet up with Dolan.
The situation on Tafay Village[]
Dolan greets Envoy with anger as he thought that Envoy launches the assault on the village. Quickly explaining the situation to avoid further commotion, he thought that his village is the culprit for the mess. The dwarves glare at the Envoy furiously after the mess they made. To learn more about the current situation, he hands Envoy some energy storage tank and asks them to distribute it to some villagers while talking to the villagers. First, Envoy goes to the wounded militiaman and relieved to see he can activate the healing device. He introduces himself as Jorali and explains what happen. The new village chief, Tobin, gathered the villagers and sets out to the east despite the elder's protest.
During travel, he decides to turn back, knowing that it's dangerous ahead. He was lucky enough to survive the wild beast attack on the way back to the village. Next, is the farmer and he also relieved that he can power up robots to shoo off monsters on his field. The situation can go dire if the food supplies are running low. The last one is a mechanic and he was relieved to acquire it. He then tells Envoy about the situation that the village survives through small usage of mana every day that was necessary to power uptown and basic necessities. The robots ceased the operations and those who are still functions are affected by a strange energy and turn on their own master. The strange thing is, any robots that are out of energy back then are stored but suddenly it was operational and headed to Barren Well.
Envoy then apologizes for the early misconception after hearing the villagers. Now, they barely enough to survive because the Life Energy keep withering away. To make it worse, Sasquacks are able to invade the village thanks to Envoy's efforts earlier. He reminds Envoy that they are not going to be taken lightly but Envoy will go to atone for the earlier mistake. Succeding in routing the Sasquack, Dolan was surprised to see how fast Envoy can handle it. He wonders how Envoy can defeat the robot guarding the village and it seems Envoy's skill is not just for a show. Dolan accepts Envoy's assistance since the young and strong ones are away from the village currently.
Dolan rants again as the Sasquacks are ransacking the farm fields and he asks the Envoy to get it under control since they do not have enough robots to fend them off and taking back any food stolen from them. Once the Envoy defeats the Grassland Sasquacks and bringing the food to the village back, Dolan smiles happily. Just as the Envoy was about to deliver the crops, Beebis snatch a bunch of it, runs off towards Dolan, and eats happily. Both Envoy and the Eidolon rushes to stop Beebis. Dolan laughs looking at the Hungry Beebis as he let it eat since the Envoy brought the crops enough to hold for a long time but later look away sighing. He was hoping that he can rectify the robot problems before the food runs out since their fields have been occupied by the out of control robots for quite a while.
Dolan then explains that he sends his men to retrieve the Berserker Bounces, only to be attacked by the Ballistic Bouncers on the route. Everyone fled, leaving everything behind, including device to recall the robots were jettisoned during the retreat. He needs to reclaim the Lost Tools before dealing with the robots in the countryside. He warns the Envoy that the danger could be more severe. The Envoy volunteered for it and Dolan pray for the Envoy's safety. The Envoy manages to secure it north of the village and Dolan was happy when the Envoy returns with the Lost tools. He expresses his gratitude and will start working once his best militiamen return to the village to begin working on the robots.
The Eidolon was curious and ask Alando why they haven't set out after getting the devices back. The envoy also remembers the disturbance at the village and according to Jirlah, the village chief was leading an effort to find a new energy source. Alando sighs as he took all the strongest fighters, hopefully, they can manage. The Envoy volunteered once again to go to deal with the robots going rogue on the field. Alando gave the Envoy instructions on how to disable it. He also needs the energy to be extracted intact since every drop matters to them. The Envoy goes to the north of the Village to disable and extracts the Power Sources. Dolan feels grateful and indebted as the Envoy manages to shut down the robots all by itself. He hates to admit that they were at a loss until the Envoy shows up, and because of the Envoy, the village was able to hold out for a little longer after the Envoy bolstered the energy supply and recovered the fields. He masks any worries, claiming that his village won't go down easily. The Envoy found a new respect for the Dwarves' determination since there is no other way to value the Dwarves. Dolan then wants to know why the Envoy is here and the Envoy explains everything about the war between the Shadow Knight and the Church. After hearing the Envoy's noble endeavor story, he laments that if the village chief is here, they will be surely pledging their allegiance to the church for the sake of their lands. The Envoy then ask the Village Chief's whereabouts. Dolan sighs as he was just being selected as the new chief, replacing his father. He's a bit rash, and also too eager to prove himself to the people.
Dolan explains that when the Oblitus Wood start to wither, one of their instruments detected a new energy source in the east towards Ghostsweeper ruins. Despite he tries to call off the expedition, what makes the chief gets a hold of it is desperate for new energy. When the Envoy inquires further about it, he answers that the energy source was not stable and it could take years to research before decide to mine or not. However, Chief Tobin acts out of desperation, knowing that without energy, the woods and the village won't last. Tobin always compares himself to his father, filling with things to prove as a new leader. Perhaps if the Envoy can weigh in danger, it could open his eyes. The Envoy volunteers for help and Dolan asks the Envoy to stop Tobin from reaching the Ghostsweep Ruins and ordered him to withdraw before the village feels the effects of the corrupt energy source. He sends Envoy to Jorali who manages to return to the village for more information.
The Envoy then ask Jorali about the expedition team and they have been ordered to stop Tobin from reaching it. Jorali was concerned that Tobin may not listen to the Envoy despite the Envoy was dispatched. He actually already begs the chief to stop the operation after the encounter with the undead earlier, but that doesn't stop him. Hearing the undead makes the Envoy remember about Brian from Port Skandia and zombies at Alabastren Temple. Glancing over to the Eidolon, it turns out the Eidolon also got no idea. He was expelled from the squad because of doubting Tobin, but he already saw that happened with his own eyes.
Before the Envoy leaves, Jorali warns Envoy that the path was guarded by the wolves. Originally the Ghostsweep Ruins was their home, but after they've been driven out, they now linger around the road between the village and the ruins. Jorali manages to escape when the wolves found him despite he was injured. He then recommends the Envoy to rendezvous with Alvin, the Energy Inspector. He will voice the reason the Envoy is there and should be willing to help the Envoy. The Envoy sets out to the east, defeating Ghostsweep Wolf and Ironclaw Wolf that Envoy comes across. Once the threat has been eliminated, the Envoy goes to Alvin.
Tafay's Expeditionary Team Preparation for Withdrawal[]
At the camp East of the village, the Envoy meets with Alvin, but Alvin seems agitated and about to shoo the Envoy away. The Envoy then calmly explains the situation in the village that was now secured and the wolves have been driven away. Alvin sighs in relief to hear that. He explains that the elder was a smart one, and it's evidenced by when he inspect the new energy source, he knew something immediately went wrong. He was confident that the energy was corrupted by something once he read the energy was fluctuating and unstable. He may prepare for withdrawal to the village, concerned that if they stay, they may lose everything.
The villagers regret their decision, but Tobin was not swayed because of this no matter how many they try to persuade. Ever since Jorali was expelled from the team, the entire team becomes unsure about this operation. Some of those who hold the same ideas with Jorali are imprisoned so they can't escape. Tobin was not a villain, but he act out of desperation and under extreme stress. The Envoy then offers itself to secure a retreat path so Alvin and the others can escape while he can convince his fellow villagers to withdraw. Alvin then wants the Envoy to release the prisoners, but it's not going to be easy since The Envoy needs to knock out the Chief's guards guarding the prison. Setting out, The Envoy knocks the guard while also seizing the key. Once the militia retreats, the Envoy returns to Alvin. He thanks the Envoy for what happened in this situation.
Alvin then wants Envoy to return and to free them before any militiaman shows up. If the Envoy runs out of keys, The Envoy can ambush the militiamen to take the key. The Envoy is freeing as many Tafay Villagers as it could before returning to Alvin. Returning to Alvin, he also sighs as the Envoy manages to free every last one of the imprisoned villagers while tending to the wound of the militiamen that the Envoy knocks out. Now he needs to make sure the others are also convinced to retreat and Alvin has to make sure the rest of them will also retreat. If both can approach Tobin, maybe he will listen.
In order to convince his entire squad, Alvin needs to prove that the energy source he gathers here was corrupted. The energy was kept by the Energy Engineers and if they can find the energy they collected, Alvin can study it and finds out the problem. Once they know the truth, he can stop the operation. The Envoy was curious about it, but Alvin laughs as he reminds the Envoy about what happened at Barrell Well which makes both Envoy and Eidolon remembered. Alvin then tasks Envoy to run a heist, stealing the samples from Energy Engineers. Knocking out the Engineers, The Envoy snatches the Unstable Energy and returns to Alvin. Once the Envoy hands it to Alvin, he immediately tests it. When the test is done, he concludes that there could be a relationship between Ghostsweep Ruins and Barren Well due to the same energy sources. He was unable to find out how the energy was produced.
Alvin then suggests that he make a simple demonstration to convince his entire squad rather than talking to them. Using a very low energy robot, he installs the unstable energy and the robot suddenly springs to life, dashing around wildly and goes out of control. The Envoy was also surprised to witness the demonstration itself as Alvin catches the robot and shut it down. He then wants The Envoy to bring this to the central camp to convince the entire team. He gives the Envoy the resistor to stop the robot once everyone was convinced. When the Envoy demonstrates it, the people surrounding the main camp start talking about it. Once it becomes an uproar, the Envoy stops it and approach Shaine. The Envoy then explains about the new energy source that the Village Chief is pursuing is the cause of it. He then believes in Alvin and the others. Despite that, the chief's disregarding it. However, he will spread the news about what happened and advise everyone to withdraw.
Shaine then asks The Envoy if they can also help Alvin to convince Tobin, the Envoy then try to make a lie by once everyone was leaving, he will be surely returning. Shaine was surprised and what's worse, he led a group of people into the cave, but their advance was put to halt by the monsters inside it. The Envoy then remembers about the zombies, nodding to the Eidolon. They then volunteer themselves to clear out the cave from the monster and assist Tobin and his squad on retreating. Shaine doubts the Envoy since one person can't do it alone, but the Eidolon convinces him that it will accompany the Envoy while he just needs to spread a word to retreat. He then bid the Envoy farewell as to make sure the Envoy assist Tobin's squad and get him out from there. The Envoy first clears the path to the ruins by defeating the zombies and getting the energy crystals, once it's clear, the Envoy returns with some energy crystal in hand. Shaine thanks the Envoy that the villagers managed to retreat from the cave safely and return to the village. The Envoy though feels some remorse that the zombies the Envoy took down could be once the fellow Envoy of Gaia as well, the same thing that the Envoy face at Alabastren Temple. Shaine lauded Envoy's efforts for assisting the villagers to retreat. The Envoy explains about the zombies and also hands over the energy crystal that the Envoy manage to seize. Shaine shivers as he thought it was just a legend, recalling the stories of it while absent-mindedly takes the crystals and holds it up, letting it catch the light at different angles. He will deliver this to Alvin for further examination.
But, the worse thing has to come since the Chief haven't returned yet, prompting Shaine to panic. While they're packing up, he wants the Envoy to shut down the energy collection machines. While the Envoy is shutting down the machines, Shaine asks the villagers and found a horrifying answer. The Envoy told him to calm down first since he was exhausted from tracking the chief down.
Panics Inside the Camp[]
Turns out Tobin was still inside the Ghostsweep Cave and his intense desire to save the village clouding his own voice of reason. He then begs the Envoy to rescue him or he will be killed in action. The Envoy then will go to rescue him while he led the villagers back to the village. Before the Envoy leave, he gave the Envoy a Bright Light so it can help the Envoy enough light inside the cave. The Envoy lights up a Bright Light and Tobin was lured out. He offered the Envoy to join him but refused. Angered, he attacks the Envoy and the Envoy defeats him. Despite Tobin was defeated, before the Envoy could even return, he snatches the devices and goes back into the cave. The Envoy immediately reports to Shaine about this and he also felt dumbfounded to hear it.
Now, he will forsake Tobin and lead the others back to the village and wait for the Elder's next instructions. He then passes the information from Alvin that he found something interesting from the crystal the Envoy seize from the zombies earlier. Curious, the Envoy went to Alvin and he told the Envoy that he found some interesting information. He found out that the energy on the crystals is reminiscent of the Life Energy, but corrupted. If he can guess correctly, the zombies are the culprits of this case since it siphons the Oblitus Wood's vitality, similar to the Dwarves draw their life force from the spirit of the forest. Realizing it, the Envoy got a bad feeling since it works the same way as the Envoy of Gaia draws in the Power of Gaia to produce an Eidolon. Noticing that the zombies were the actual culprit, the strongest ones could have lingered somewhere inside the cave.
Based on the residual amount, he suspects that there could be more zombies to make the effect on Oblitus Wood. He already suspects that there could be more powerful zombies inside the cave. The Envoy told Alvin that Tobin stole a Bright Light and goes back into the cave alone. Alvin then fears the worse as he expects that Tobin may not be strong enough to deal with the monsters inside the cave. The Envoy then propose Alvin to report to the Nudak Fortress while the Envoy will rescue Tobin. Alvin looks nervously, but the Envoy explains that they have been dispatched from the church to investigate the cause and put it to an end while the Envoy can't wait for reinforcements. Alvin still hesitates, but the Envoy told him that he should report to General Carrick or Analisa since they will know what to do to send reinforcements. Bidding farewell, the Envoy sets out to the cave.
Raid of Ghostsweep Cave[]
The Envoy enters the cave and the scent of blood makes the Envoy more determined to finish the job. The Envoy immediately eliminates Ghostsweep Cave that gets in the Envoy's way. The Envoy feels something is strange ahead and the Envoy clears every path it takes. The Envoy smashes through Ghostsweep Lizard and found Gekasso, who devours the wandering Butterfly Fairy that went stunned for an unknown reason. Determine not to be eaten, the Envoy battles Gekasso and defeats it. The Fairy that survives inside the bowel gives the Envoy their blessings. The Envoy later takes the left path which contains Ghost Snake Fortress, and Zombie Worshipper.
Later, Malodnak ambushes the Envoy and after a tough battle, the Envoy defeats it. Turns out, Tobin was hiding and the Envoy approaches him. Despite he was shaking in fear, he's still determined to save the village whatever it costs. The Envoy then explains that the zombies are the cause of this problem. Still stubborn that he can save the people, the Envoy now convinced that he can't retreat until the matters are solved.
The Envoy stops him before he can advance and ask what he had found, hoping the Envoy will take his place to solve it. At first, he wants to refuse, but he finally complies to the Envoy's demand. Once regaining his sanity, he thanks the Envoy. He then explains that he has found the source of the problem and ask if the Envoy can put an end to it. The Envoy nods and also tells him that the villagers are awaiting his arrival back home. Before he can withdraw, he asks the Envoy name which the Envoy tells its name and he will remember the Envoy.
The Envoy sets out to defeat Talen, clearing the remaining Zombie Exile and Zombie Worshipper. The Envoy later found out that there was a ritual at the altar. The zombies are transforming and attacking the Envoy, but the Envoy manages to defeat them. When the minions were defeated, Talen comes out and challenges the Envoy. When the Envoy got a tough fight, Odum Ryan arrives as reinforcements. Together, they manage to defeat Talen.
Upon being defeated, Talen gives the Envoy words that greed causes them to awaken these zombies inside the cave and hoping the Envoy will also turn greedy before he disappears. Once Talen was disappeared into the Pandemonium, Shay, Analisa, Tobin, and Dolan arrives.
Analisa's Invitation to Templar Knights[]
Reporting to Odum Ryan, he was certain that the land will recover and after a while, there will be a balance that will be renewed as before as he was certain about it. The Envoy did not expect reinforcements and asking if there was emergency errands that make them aid the Envoy in a hurry. Odum explains that when they were heading back to the fortress, they capture a suspicious Dwarf that dash through them, interrogating him for a bit. When they heard the human is heading into the cave alone, he realizes that it was the Envoy who did it. Taking some personnel, they make a rush into the cave, telling the Envoy not to do everything alone as they will take care of the rest.
Analisa then suddenly makes a proposal after witnessing his loyalty to the Envoy. She wants Odum to join the church and she knows that Odum's talents can be crucial in the upcoming battle. However, Odum states that he was not ready to join the Templars as he's still honing his skill as a warrior, telling her that when he's ready, he will be at their side. He then tells Aquina to return to General Carrick to report while he and the rest will eliminate the stragglers.
Returning to the fortress, the Envoy reports to the Carrick that the matters have settled. Carrick salutes the Envoy with new-found, deep respect. He's looking forward to when the Oblitus Wood will be restored to its former glory.
With the matters solved, the Envoy lifted up everyone's spirits and preparing for the coming war, knowing that resolving the situation by just a single person is an inspiring feat. The Envoy feel embarrassed hearing that. Carrick wants Envoy to deliver information to the church about the new allies, Silverflash Tribe and Dwarves at Tafay Village. The Envoy returns to Navea to report to the Grand Bishop Belenus.
Arriving at the Audience Hall, the Envoy reports the events transpired at the Oblitus Woods. From discovering the problems, until the new allies join the Church to fight the Shadow Knights Army. The Envoy also reports some concern that the zombies they fought are well-organized, unlike what the Envoy encountered before as the Envoy never experience such behavior. The Grand Bishop then turns to Gus to explain it. Gus explains that they have records from the past regarding the zombies made from the Envoy of Gaia, or known as Fallen Envoys. It is true that the zombies that were once the Envoy of Gaia maintain the capacity of thought, however, he did not know if the memories are preserved or possessed by another consciousness. These Envoys were consumed by their Eidolons that had grown most powerful as he saw The Envoy's Eidolon partner ability has increased greatly, which could reach its peak soon.
Gus then gives the Envoy advice that if the Eidolon grows more powerful, it could break the bond and turns on the Envoy. He wasn't certain in this situation as the worse thing the Envoy will face is death. Knowing the Envoy and Eidolon become friends and trust each other, the Envoy keeps that in mind despite the worries.
Oblitus Campaign Woods ends.
